Why Do We Read?
Our class is currently reading Richard Connel's The Most Dangerous Game", a short story filled with suspense so it's easy to enjoy. But aside from the thrill a good story can give us there is usually more to a good story than that. Stories can teach us, help to make grow-and we hunger for a good tale. Ask any child if he or she wants a story and just watch the excitement in his or her eyes.
So what is it about stories? Why do we read?
Task: Choose a story from your childhood, a story you read or that was read to you and answer the following questions:
1. What is your story and what was it about?
2. Why did you read it?
3. What did you get from it that you wanted to hear it or see it again and again?

The story I have chose is, Hansel and Gretel, and it was about a a poor father and two children Hansel and gretel whose step-mother doesn't like them and tries to persuade their father into leaving them in the woods because they don't have enough food. Hansel leaves a trail of pebbles to find the way back because he heard what his step-mother said. and he and his sister return to the house, surprising the step-mother. then he did it again with bread crumbs but the birds had eaten them. They wander for two days and can't find their way home, when they stumble on a house of all sorts of desserts, and they start eating until an old lady exits the house, and invites them in and served them food. The children did not know the lady was a witch who ate cildren.
Anyway, the reason I read this is because I thought it would be interesting. What I got from this story is to never trust a step-parent.
The story that I chose was Goodnight Moon, it was about a bunny going through steps on how to go to sleep. I read it cause I loved the picturs of the bunny doing all the things that we all do before we go to bed. I use to do everything that the bunny did after reading the book, it made getting ready for bed fun. What I got out of reading Goodnight Moon was that getting ready for bed is like a game, I was so excited to go to bed every night and reading that book.
The story I loved as a young girl was Cinderella.It was about a young girl who only lives with her father.Her father remarries a woman that has two daughters of her own.Her father dies and she is left to live with her mean stepmother and stepsisters who treat her bad.She becomes kind of like a slave to her sisters.THey are invited to a ball but she is not allowed to go if she doesnt finish her chores. THen Cinderella's fary godmother helps her by giving her a beatiful dresse and glass slippers. She makes a pumpkin into a carriage and makes the mouses into horses and she tells her to be back by midnight.She goes to the ball and she gets to meet the prince and she is having a great time when she notices that it's almost midnight and she leaves the ball room running with the prince chasing right behind her. As she runs down the steps one of her glass slippers falls of and the prince gets it. She gets home right in time. The next day the prince takes the slipper and goes out to find whose shoe it is. He goes house to house and every woman has to try it on until he finds the perfect fit. When he get to Cinderellas house her stepmom and stepsisters try it on but wouldn't allow Cinderella to try it on but the prince's orders were that everyone was to try it on. When Cinderella try's it on it fits perfectly an she marries the prince and leaves her mean stepmom and stepsisters and she lived happily ever after.I read it because i couldnt beleive how she could have found her prince charming.This story got me thinking that how good people always win and if your good that you will get rewarded. What i got from it was that even if you have a bad childhood you might have a better adulhood.I think it was the happily ever after that i liked the most about the story.
The story I chose was Huckleberry Finn. This story was about a boy who tried to get everyone to do his work. The reason I read this story is because I could relate to it because I was a little bit like Tom Sawyer when I was younger. It seemed like a good adventure story and it turned out that it was. The main point I got from this story is to always do your own work because people don't like being tricked.
The story that I have chose is The THree Little Bears, it was about a little girl and three bears. The bear was mom and a dad bear and a little bear. The little girl run away from her house because here aunt was mean and threater bad. When she run away she whent into the forest and found the house of the three bears. Why did a read tghis story because when I was little I like to read story's with animals in them. A othere thing is because it lloked preaty fun to read because of the bears. A thing that I got from that story is that it's not right to run away from your house and from your'e problems of your life.
WILLY RODRIGUEZ
The story that i chose is, why the coyote stole fire.the story was about a coyote who saw many human who died because of the winter. he felt that he should help the rest of them. He knew three beings who had fire and knew how to make fire. They lived at the top of the mountain. the coyote went to the top of the mountain and he stayed there for one day and night. then he went down to the little village and told the men abouth the fire.The men promise to the cayote that if he gave them the fire, they promised to protect the cayotes from does who wanted to hunt them. the cayote noticed thatthe men took tunrs to guard the fire. While one guarded the fire two were asleep. during the morning one of them will yell "sister, sister is your turn" while they swiching spots the cayote went down and took a piece of fire and gave it to the men. the live happilly ever after.
The reoson why i read this story was because I thought that the story would be interesting.
What i got from the story is that in this fairy tale the humans and animals were really good friends.
I enjoyed reading the Three Little Pigs. It was about 3 pigs who made houses and conflicted with a wolf. I liked reading it because there were many different versions of it. For example, sometimes it would be shorter and sometimes all 3 pigs would live in the end.
The main reason I read it over and over were to see the different endings and changes in the story.
The story that i chose is The Three Bears.The story was about three bear who were Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear. Each bear had their own size things like their bowl, chair,and Bed. Then one moring the three bears cooked some porridge for and had to wait awhile for it to cool down. So they went in search for sweet honey in the woods. After they left a little girl named Goldilocks passed by their house and knocked. Noone answered so she went right in. Goldilocks was rather hungry so she decided to eat some porridge and it smelled good! Papa Bear's p[orridge was too hot! Mama Bear's porridge was too hot for her as well, and then tasted Baby Bear's bowl and it was right.Then Goldilocks tired sitting down but The first to chairs were to hard or too soft. Baby Bear's was right6 but it broke!Then Goldilocks was tired so she tired the first two beds but they were too hard or soft. The third was just right and fell asleep. Soon after Golgilocks fell asleep the three bears come back. The saw someone had eaten their porridge, sat in their chairs,and someon ewas in their bed. But The Baby bear saw that a little girl was there. Goldilocks woke and ran and the three bears nevere saw her again. I read the story because i was bored. I wanted to the story again and because the Baby bear cried .
my story was if you give a mouse a cookie, and is was about what would happen if you gave a mouse a cookie. i read the story because i like cookies. i read the story over and over again and over again because it made me laugh.

1. The story I read is “Where The Red Ferns Grows". It was about a boy with two hunting dog and the way he gets the dogs and what he has to do for them.
2. I read it because the title interested me and there was a lesson to learn.
3. What I got from it was that the lesson was what ever you put you mind to you can do it. What made me read it over and over was some times I the first time I miss understood the story.
the story that i chose was, pinochio.this story is about a kid who would lie and lie and that every time that he lied his noes would grow bigger.the reason why i read this was because i thought that it was going to be interesting and the reason why i wanted to hear it over and over again was because i liked the drawings. what i got from this story is to always say the truth and never lie.

THE STORY I CHOSE WAS CINDERELLA. IT IS ABOUT A GIRL WHOS FATHER DIES AND LEAVES HER WITH HER EVIL STEP MOTHER. THE GIRL GOES TO A BALL, MEETS A PRINCE,PRINCE AND HER FALL IN LOVE...., AND THEY LIVED HAPPLY EVER AFTER.
I READ THIS STORY BECAUSE IT HAD NICE PICTURES, AND A GOOD STORY LINE.
I LEARNED THAT I DOESNT MATTER WHO YOU ARE, YOU CAN ALWAYS HAVE A HAPPY ENDING.
The story that I chose is,Little red riding hood,This story is about this girl that always wore a hooded red cape every day.One day her mother gave her a basket to take it to her grandmother because she was very ill.Red riding hood's mother told her to not talk to strangers on her way.Then on her way to her grandmothers house she met a wolf the wolf asked her where she was going and what she had in the basket.Red riding hood then went on walking to her grandmothers house.When she got there ,she entered the house the wolf was in grandmothers bed.The wolf tried to eat Little red riding hood.Then a huntsman saw that little red riding hood cried for help and he got the wolf.The girl then found her grandmother, and then the three of them ate the food from the basket.I read this story because my mom read it to me when I was a child.What I learned from this story is that you can't trust strangers no matter how good they look.

1.My favorite all time fairy tail is Cinderella. This story is about a girl and his dad who marries a mean woman, now cinderella has another mom and two step sisters. Then cinderellas dad dies so she stays with her stepmom who treats her like a slave. Now cindereella does all the cleaaning, cooking and stuff. She doesnt get to go anywhere like the others. One day the family gets invited by the king to go to a ball to see whos going to marry the prince, cinderella wants to go but her mean stepmother tells her that she can go only if she finishes all the cleaning and finds a really pretty dress which cinderella doesnt have. cinderellas rat animals help her out by the time her stepmother and sisters are ready she is ready too but they all reck her dress, now she is sad but her fairy god mother helps her out and sshe gets to go to the ball she meets the prince and then at the end of the story they marry and live happily ever after.
2.I read and still like reading this story because its a beatiful fairy tail that you can only live it in your dreams because it will never happen in real life.
3.From this book i got that you can actually believe in your dreams even thouhg some are imposible.
1.My favorite all time story would be cinderella because it is about one harrd working girl who gets bossed around by her stepmother and her stepsisters.they were cruel and treated her poorly but she obeyed them and was humble about it and she ended up getting everything that she ever wanted and her fairy godmother helped her go to the ball where she met prince charming and in the end she won because she worked hard and she was humble and didn't try talking back to her stepmom.it is a good story that teaaches people that you can make your dreams come true you just need to have faith and to work hard and it will reward you later in life.
2.i read it because it is one of the fairy tales that you can hope to have faith and help you believe that your dreams can come true no matter what it is.
3.that if you really want something in life you gotta do what it takes to make it come true and work hard and never to give up on your dreams no matter how impoosible it might sound.
A story i liked from my child hood is The Little Red Riding Hood(spanish version).I read it because my mommy read it to me when i was in 1st grade.I thought it was funny because how Little Red Riding Hood was telling her "grandma" all the abnormalities she had.
The story I have chosen is The Three Little pigs.This story is about 3 little pigs who are moving out and buildong their own houses.Unfortunitly they didn't agree on it so they end up buildint their houses sepratly so that's when their problems with the wolf start.I would love it when my mom read it to me because sometimes she would twist it sround and make it more interesting so I would want to hear it each night.Also I always got entertained always it never got old for me and that's why to this day i still can't get over and from this story i got always live in a straw...stick house because..it it just dumb.
The story I chose is Frog and Toad are friends because its just so sad. Its about these two amphibians that are just the best buds in the world. Toad is this pathetic pudgy toad that is always sad, but frog is all jumpy and he loves to walk around and chat. Alright so one day toad lost a button on his shirt and so he calls frog to tell him to help him find his button. They walked around looking everywhere. The found lots of buttons but none that belonged totoad so toad got all the buttons and sewed them all on a shirt and gave it to frog. I liked to look at this book because I loved how they were super best friends
I chose the story Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Its about a boy name charlie who is needy. Five children get to go to Willy Wonka's factory, but only if they get a golden ticket. They get the ticket by buying Willy Wonka's most famous chocolate bars. The five children were Agustus Gloop, Veruca Salt,Violet Beaurgarde,Mike Teevee, and Charlie Bucket.One by one each child would have to leave with there parent because they did something stupid and didnt listen to Willy wonka.The last person was Charlie he got to have the whole entire Chocolate factory because Mr. Wonka gave it to him. The reason why i read this story is because it was really interesting.

The story i read was kind of the same way as cinderella but there was a big twist because first of all her real name is Ella her stepsisters named her cinderella because she would sleep out 9n the cinders. well like in cinderella her father died so she lived with her stepmom and sisters. she went to the ball wearing her mothers wedding dress there was no fairy godmother.sothe prince comes and takes her to the castle before she arries the prince she has to take classes in one of them her tutor gets very sick so they bring another tutor whos really cool because that is the only person tha she has fun with because the prince is just to boring so suddenly she founds out that the prince didnt choose her as his bride the prince advisers choose her because she was beatiull because the princes are supposed to have beautiful children. So ella flees the castleshe goes with her cool tutor.
I read this book because somebody gave it to me and i lke reading soi just start it toread it.
The message i got from the story was thatyou have toget to know people better to see if you want to live the rest of your life with them.

One day she met a handsome prince who fell in love with her. She was poor so her godmother appeared and granted her the wish of going to the ball. At 12 the spell was broken and she had to leave but left one of her glass slippers behind.
The prince finally found her and they lived happily every after.

I read this book because it talks about magic.
3. What did you get from it that you wanted to hear it or see it again and again?
I liked the fact the fairy godmother turned the mice into horses because it made me believe in magic even more.
